This is a folder—a place to store related files. Folders can contain files and other folders.
System Folder
The System Folder contains files and programs that your Macintosh needs to operate.
Apple Menu Items folder
To make an item available from the Apple menu, put it in this folder. You can then open the item by choosing its name from the Apple menu.
Startup Items folder
To have an item open automatically when you start up your computer, put it in this folder.
Owner folder
This is a folder on a shared disk. You are the owner of this folder.
Drop folder
You can place files and folders in this folder, but only the folder’s owner can open it.
Shared folder
This is a shared folder—a folder that can be viewed and used by others on your network.
Shared Folder in use
This shared folder is currently being used by someone on your the network.
Control Panels folder
This folder contains your control panels—files you can use to customize various parts of your Macintosh system.
PrintMonitor Documents folder
This folder is a temporary storage place for files that are waiting to be printed.
Preferences folder
This folder contains preferences files created by application programs.
Extensions folder
This folder contains files that extend the capabilities of Macintosh system software.
This is a folder—a place to store related files. Folders can contain files and other folders. You cannot open this folder because you do not have access privileges to this folder.
Fonts folder
This folder contains your active fonts—files your Macintosh uses to print and display characters. To install or remove fonts or font suitcases, drag them into or out of the Fonts folder.
